Twelve to eighteen months is typical when guests are involved. Room blocks at the resorts couples actually want fill up earlier than you would think, and guests need lead time to budget for the trip. We can move faster than that when we have to.
That is one of the harder parts of a destination wedding, and the honest answer is some guests will not be able to come. We do everything we can on the rate side, with group pricing, payment plans, and a mix of room categories, to make the trip as affordable as possible. We will not pretend a trip to Mexico costs the same as a hometown wedding.
For the ceremony and reception itself, yes. Every all-inclusive resort has its own in-house wedding team and they require you to use them. We handle the travel side, and after twenty years of doing this we know which resort wedding teams actually deliver and which ones do not.
It depends on the resort and how close to the wedding the cancellation is. We negotiate the room block terms up front so you know what is refundable and what is not, and we hold rooms past the resort's standard deadline when we can. The earlier you tell us, the more we can recover.
